UPDATE Tuesday, September 19, 2017
Please know that early this afternoon, the VJA Dean's Office has successfully resolved the cause of yesterday's incident. After investigation, the cause of the situation was an aerosol pepper spray intentionally sprayed in the 1st floor hallway. Additionally, we have one student who was held accountable for causing the situation.
I am proud of our students, staff, and deans office in their management of the situation and continued effort to take this issue to closure.

Around 1:30 p.m., it was reported to the school administration that there was an irritant in the first floor hallway near the Famly and Consumer Science classrooms. Out of an abundance of caution, all students and staff moved outside of the building. No reports of illness were reported by students or staff.
The Fire Department and Hazardous Materials Squad quickly arrived and assessed the situation. Shortly after 3 p.m., they provided the all clear for students and staff to re-enter the building to gather their belongings.
After school activities are being held on a voluntary basis and school will be in session tomorrow.
The Andrew High School administration extends its gratitude to the Tinley Park Fire Department for its thorough and quick response. The administration also thanks students and staff for their orderly and patient implementation of the school's emergency plan.
