Andrew Alum Shares Speech Innovation with Students

Andrew High School alumnus Mohammed Mustafa, founder of Unisn Labs, recently returned to Andrew to demonstrate his speech-support technology to a group of speech students and staff.

Mustafa spent more than a decade in speech therapy, trying different techniques, apps and strategies to manage his stutter. His experience led him to explore choral speech, also known as unison speech, and ultimately to found Unisn Labs.

The platform uses synchronized audio guides and teleprompter-style visual cues designed to support users as they practice and navigate real-life speaking situations.

“Unisn Labs is the platform I wish I had growing up,” Mustafa said. “My goal is to improve the quality of life for people who stutter by allowing them to do the small things in life that most people overlook.”

He pointed to everyday experiences such as asking a question in class, ordering at a drive-through, giving a presentation or telling a story to friends.

“People who stutter deserve to be heard and they should not have to lose out on opportunities because of their speech,” Mustafa said.

Mustafa’s visit gave current Andrew students and staff an opportunity to see the technology firsthand and learn how his own experiences helped inspire its development. We thank Mustafa for returning to Andrew and sharing his work with the T-Bolt community.
